Silenced by Caste: The Brutal Attack on Bhairi Devi and Ramswaroop Regar
Bhairi Devi and her husband Ramswaroop Regar were viciously attacked by Ramjas Jat, a farmer from a nearby village, and his group of 25 accomplices on November 23, 2016. The attack was triggered by a dispute over the water supply for irrigation. Ramswaroop had diverted water towards his own field, which enraged Ramjas Jat and led him to call his friends for assistance. During the attack, the couple sustained severe injuries, and Bhairi Devi was sexually assaulted and stripped naked. Despite the incident being reported to the police, no arrests have been made, and the victims continue to live in fear for their lives.
