Do you know what a BMC made disaster is?
It happens every year this time. If you are privileged enough you don’t endure it EVERY YEAR unlike the people in the video.
Homes get flooded EVERY YEAR and BMC despite being well aware of the needs of such areas, remain inactive for as long as it can.
People in Mankhurd Transit camp have faced double discrimination this year:
1. They haven’t been given their rightful rehabilitation for years now.
2. Fresh demolitions choked up gutters further and people are forced to stay in these inhumane conditions.
Staying wet and awake through the night, people from such homes show up at work every day. Children and the old fall ill, many succumb to these conditions.
EVERY YEAR the BMC finds an excuse to wash their hands off blaming the “scale of the rains and the bursting city” but the truth is they CAN PREVENT these “disasters” and they don’t.
