Audio Visual Workshop
Opia Films offers modular, field-adaptable media education workshops designed for NGOs, educational institutions and skill development platforms. Rooted in grassroots media practices and informed by years of work in rights-based storytelling, our workshops combine media literacy, civic inquiry and creative expression.
Conducted in a bilingual format (Hindi and English), our workshops prioritize equal participation, fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment for all participants.

Cinema of Resistance Workshops (2021–2025)
Saurabh Kumar has been a regular facilitator with the Cinema of Resistance (COR) initiative. He led 3-day cinema workshops in collaboration with Sambhaavnaa Institute and COR in 2021 and 2023, and continues this work with an upcoming session planned for 2025.




Kitabi Masti Library
On 3rd and 4th June 2025, Saurabh Kumar facilitated a film appreciation and filmmaking workshop with young learners at the Kitabi Masti Library in Bhopal. Organised as part of their summer camp programming, the sessions introduced children to the basics of visual storytelling, media literacy and collaborative short film creation using mobile tools.





Bubblegum International Children’s Film Festival
Empowering young artists, Saurabh Kumar conducted a masterclass on filmmaking and storytelling at the Bubblegum International Children’s Film Festival. In collaboration with Delhi Public School and Whistling Woods International (WWI), the session nurtured the creativity and cinematic curiosity of young participants, offering hands-on learning in visual expression and narrative building.








Bal Mela '24 with Van Gujjara Children
Bolti Media, in collaboration with Maee, conducted film screenings in remote Van Gujjara hamlets across Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
Children explored themes of peace, equality, democracy and environment through curated films and interactive discussions in Van Gujjari language.

Wayve Foundation
In 2021, Opia Films collaborated with the WAYVE Foundation for the #LeaveNoDalitWomenBehind campaign, training social workers to document powerful interviews with Dalit women. The following year, we conducted a national-level session for grassroots participants, focusing on audio-visual content creation and strategic use of social media for advocacy and public engagement.





Mount Valley Development Association
In June 2021, Opia Films conducted a two-day workshop on audio-visual documentation and social media communication in collaboration with Mount Valley Development Association (MVDA). The workshop was held in Ghansali, Uttarakhand, and focused on equipping local participants with media tools to amplify grassroots voices and contribute to improving the quality of life in rural communities.

Youth for the Coast
In 2022, Saurabh Kumar contributed as a facilitator at the Youth for the Coast workshop in Maharashtra, where he guided participants on the nuances of audio-visual storytelling with a focus on using media for environmental awareness and community engagement.




Gorakhpur Film Society
In collaboration with the Gorakhpur Film Society, Saurabh facilitated a 2-day workshop on the audio-visual medium and social media communication. The sessions focused on enabling youth and grassroots workers to critically engage with film, document local realities, and build communication tools for advocacy.






Cinema in School Initiative
Since August 2022, Saurabh Kumar has been an active facilitator in the Cinema in School initiative, conducting educational film screenings and multimedia workshops for teachers. The program promotes critical thinking and peace education through curated cinema. Regular sessions are held at Nanakmatta Public School in Uttarakhand and Ilham Academy in Kishanganj, Bihar, engaging both students and educators in dialogue-based visual learning.
