Audio Visual Documentation Workshop with NPS Learners
In the process of breaking the traditional structure of learning, today we have reached the point where we stepped towards documentary filmmaking. Through the expertise of Saurabh Kumar, an independent multimedia journalist, content creator, and documentary filmmaker, we learnt the basic procedures and process of documentary filmmaking.
In today’s Audio-visuals training workshop, we went through the process of ‘Idea to Video’ from different documentation processes like – briefing and scripting ideas to document stories in the form of film. Learners met with four documentation processes, Pre-production, Production, Post-production and Delivery.
Students are learners because they are also un-learners. By valuing this thought, learners also met with different problems that are part of filmmaking. How to get the idea to document? How to identify characters for our story? How to get information for the story? These were the basic problems of students. Saurabh sir introduced six basic questions, How? (mode), What? (purpose), Where? (place), When? (sequence/time), Why? (reason) and Who? (people).
We also get the idea of Audio-Video-Light-Frame, possible ways to shoot in chaos and learn to avoid unnecessary character. With learning the light handling, camera angle and safety measures we end our session. Saurabh Kumar sir also promised that he will come again in the month of November and will produce a film with all.
Hope this space has inspired learners to document their surroundings to build an archive. Thanks, Saurabh sir for creating an understanding of documentary films among learners and helping to destroy the traditional learning structure.
