“Organised By Mumbai Students Solidarity*
There comes a time when you have to walk the streets, and proclaim to all – “I don’t believe. Main nahi manta. Our rights belong to us, and we shall have them.”
If the UGC can scrap the non-net fellowship citing lack of funds – a meager 97 crores for an entire youths’ education – we are here to say that we don’t believe. Their attempts at restructuring social science education, we can see and we shall not let it happen.
We at the Shiksha ka Sikka campaign are doing just that, albeit differently. While those in Delhi occupy UGC, get beaten up, and donate their blood to the streets, we, all over India, are undertaking a symbolic campaign to say that it is our people’s money that you have, and education is our people’s right.
They seem to have forgotten, so we are going to remind them. We are now going to send a rupee each – wrapped, sealed, and posted- to the UGC. Each coin delivered by post or hand – a symbol of where it all came from, and where it should go. To the people.
